Matthias Brückmann to leave MVV Energie

Matthias Brückmann, Management Board member and Sales Director at the Mannheim-based energy company MVV Energie, is to leave the company and join the Management Board of the Oldenburg-based energy supplier EWE.

This was communicated by the company on Monday, following the announcement of a corresponding decision by EWE¿s Supervisory Board. MVV Energie¿s Supervisory Board Chairman, Mannheim¿s Lord High Mayor Dr. Peter Kurz, will recommend that the Supervisory Board should approve Brückmann¿s retirement from his posi-tion and the premature termination of his contract and propose a suitable date.

Brückmann has been a member of MVV Energie¿s Management Board since 1 August 2007. He has worked at the MVV Energie Group since 2000, initially as Head of the Marketing and Sales Department, and then, from 2003 to 2007, as CEO at the Energieversorgung Offenbach subsidiary. On MVV Energie¿s Management Board, Brückmann has been responsible for the sales, environmental energy, energy-related services and trading divisions.

In an initial statement, Dr. Kurz expressed his regret about Brückmann¿s departure. "He has made a key contribution to the company¿s success in recent years." The CEO of MVV Energie, Dr. Georg Müller, highlighted in particular the successful expansion in regional and nationwide sales, the profitable growth in the environmental energy business, the market-oriented development in MVV Trading and the strategic realignment of the energy-related services at the MVV Enamic subsidiary.

Dr. Kurz and Dr. Müller thanked Brückmann for his constructive contribution in the interests of the company, its customers, shareholders and employees. Brückmann stressed: "MVV Energie is a superbly positioned, forward-looking group of companies where I have always been glad to work. Now I am looking forward to tackling new challenges and tasks at another major regional supplier."
