SECURA Energie set to become LichtBlick

LichtBlick, the German market leader for green electricity, is to take over the nationwide energy provider SECURA Energie.

This was announced by LichtBlick and SECURA’s current parent company, MVV Energie (Mannheim), in a joint press briefing released on Friday. The agreement has been reached in constructive talks held in a spirit of partnership.

By parting company with its SECURA Energie subsidiary, MVV Energie plans to focus its sales activities more closely on new business models. "Our key sales focuses are our nationwide electricity and gas sales business and energy-related services for industrial, commercial and real estate customers", commented Ralf Klöpfer, Executive Board member at MVV Energie AG.

Having already acquired Nordland Energie and Clevergy in 2013, LichtBlick is thus about to take over a third energy supplier. "We are delighted by this further addition to LichtBlick’s business", commented Heiko von Tschischwitz, Chairman of the Management of LichtBlick. "The electricity market is consolidating. By taking over SECURA, we are consistently pressing ahead with implementing our growth strategy."

Both companies are committed to ensuring that SECURA customers find LichtBlick to be a nationwide provider that offers them excellent customer service and a reliable supply in future as well. The takeover by LichtBlick will have no implications for customers. The energy provider will supply the households affected with certified green electricity. Prices will also remain stable.

Subject to approval by cartel authorities, the SECURA acquisition is expected to be completed in the summer.
