Udo Bekker to leave Executive Board of MVV Energie AG

Udo Bekker, Personnel Director of MVV Energie AG, will be standing down from the Executive Board of the Mannheim-based energy company as of 30 September 2016. As announced by the company following a meeting of its Supervisory Board in Mannheim on Monday, this step was agreed on an amicable basis.

The 57 year-old lawyer has been a member of the Executive Board, where he was responsible for the Personnel and Social Affairs department and for the Group’s shared-service companies, since January 2013. His existing responsibilities will be allocated to the other three members of the Executive Board until further notice. "Udo Bekker played a key role in successfully shaping the personnel structures and development of our publicly listed Group", commented the Supervisory Board Chairman, Mannheim’s Lord High Mayor Dr. Peter Kurz, and thanked the departing member of the Executive Board. "He made an indispensable contribution to ensuring that MVV Energie, with its current total of around 6,100 employees, will be one of Germany’s leading energy companies and a pioneer of our country’s energy turnaround in future as well."

Key focuses of Udo Bekker’s activities related in particular to personnel strategy topics aimed at securing the performance capacity of the workforce and further enhancing the corporate culture. Alongside these areas, he also focused on integrating the two renewable energies project developers Juwi AG and Windwärts GmbH, addressing the personnel challenges presented by the foreign shareholdings in the UK and the Czech Republic and structuring the IT, billing and metering service functions located at proprietary subsidiaries along competitive lines
