Sustainable energy solutions for the UK market
Sustainable waste reduction, incineration and recycling
With MVV Environment, we are now contributing our decades of experience to the British market as well. Our subsidiary provides sustainable and efficient solutions for waste-fired energy generation to publicly and privately owned waste disposal companies and to district councils.
Energy from waste – putting Plymouth’s waste to good use
Construction work began in 2012 on one of our largest projects – an energy from waste plant in Plymouth. Since 2015, this new plant has been using around 245,000 tonnes of household, commercial and industrial waste a year to generate electricity and heating energy. Among other customers, the plant also supplies the naval base on location in Plymouth. In the “Partnership Awards”, a renowned award scheme in the UK, our plant was awarded first prize in three categories – in the overall “Best Project” category, in the “Best Waste/Water/Energy Project” category and in the “Best Local Management Team” category. Our biomass power plant at Ridham Dock uses 172,000 tonnes of waste timber and non-recyclable timber a year to generate green electricity and potentially steam as well.
Environmentally-friendly energy from biomass
Biomass is a key focus of our activities in the British market. This way, we are also meeting our responsibility towards society when it comes to promoting the use of renewable energies.
