Generating environmentally-friendly from waste and biomass.

Innovative waste treatment using state-of-the-art technology

At our plants, which are organised at our subsidiary MVV Umwelt Asset GmbH, we pool our core competencies in the decentralised, efficient generation of energy from household and industrial waste and from biomass – where possible using cogeneration.

Our activities focus on generating environmentally-friendly energy from and exploiting the materials available in regenerative commodities and non-recyclable waste. This focus is consistent with the standards we have set ourselves in terms of ecological responsibility. At the same time, our name is synonymous with sustainable solutions based on around 50 years of expertise.

Cogeneration and process steam
A further environmentally-friendly aspect of our cogeneration plants is the fact that process steam and electricity are generated simultaneously using the cogeneration process. The energy potential available in the waste is used upon incineration to generate steam. Our industrial supply grid currently benefits around 15 industrial customers in Mannheim, who are supplied with an average of 65 tonnes of process steam an hour. By procuring their heating energy from us, customers avoid the investments and outlays necessary to operate proprietary energy generation plants, while also meeting the high standards laid down in the Renewable Energies Heating Energy Act and reducing their carbon footprints.

Our plants

Mannheim Biomass Power Plant

Mannheim Biomass Power Plant began operating in 2003 and specialises in incinerating waste and non-recyclable timber. The plant is able to incinerate all categories of waste timber.
