High efficiency rate at Königs Wusterhausen Biomass Power Plant
Generating clean energy from waste timber and non-recyclable timber
Königs Wusterhausen Biomass Power Plant began regular operations in 2003 after just 21 months of planning and construction. Waste and non-recyclable timber can be accepted either as pre-treated fuels or as raw materials.
New energy and active climate protection
At the end of their lifecycle, furniture and construction materials made from timber - a regenerative substance - become a valuable component of the modern energy mix at our efficient power plants. By converting waste and non-recyclable timber into environmentally-friendly energy, we are making a major contribution towards actively protecting the environment.
Good transport links and regional procurement
Our locations in Mannheim, Königs Wusterhausen and Flörsheim-Wicker have superb transport links. This is a particularly important factor, as waste timber can only be economically transported to a limited extent and is therefore characterised by regional procurement structures. As well as road and rail links, the power plant in Königs Wusterhausen also has an inland waterway port link.
Market integration of renewable energies
With the market premium model, the Federal Ministry of the Environment introduced an alternative model for marketing green electricity at the beginning of 2012. On this basis, we integrate the electricity generated at our biomass power plants directly into the market.
