We ensure reliable energy and water

Our modern grids and highly efficient plants form the basis for a reliable supply

Ensuring that our customers receive a reliable supply of energy and water is part of our DNA. That is why we are continually investing in our generation plants and grids. The success of this strategy is reflected in the high level of supply reliability at our locations, which regularly outperforms the already superb national average. In our Supply Reliability business segment, we have pooled our grids with all related facilities and our conventional generation capacities. These chiefly include the combined heat and power plants in Mannheim, Kiel and Offenbach.

Utmost efficiency with combined heat and power generation
In conjunction with environmentally-friendly district heating, combined heat and power (CHP) generation is a core component of our growth strategy. At present, we generate around 31 percent of our electricity and more than 90 percent of our heating energy using CHP generation. We are also expanding heat generation and district heating grids at our locations.

Grids are crucial for a secure supply
High-performance grids form the basis for reliably distributing energy and water. Our group of companies has electricity, gas, district heating and water grids with a total length of around 16,500 kilometres. In 2006, the tasks involved in operating distribution grids safely, reliability and efficiently were spun-off to standalone companies. MVV Netze GmbH is responsible for the grids in Mannheim, while Energienetze Offenbach GmbH and SWKiel Netz GmbH perform the same tasks for Offenbach and Kiel.
