Visits and Education

At MVV, we are committed to inspiring people of all ages to understand waste, energy, and environmental issues. We collaborate closely with schools, colleges, community groups and other organisations to offer site tours, workshops, and educational resources. At MVV Environment Devonport, we have invested in a visitor centre designed to educate both children and adults about sustainable waste management, and to demonstrate how energy recovery plays a vital role in the waste hierarchy.

School Visits

Inspiring Sustainable Habits for the Future - Embedding the principles of reducing, reusing, and recycling from an early age helps ensure they become lasting habits in adulthood.

Our Community Liaison Manager creates fun and interactive programmes designed around the guidelines of the National Curriculum. From hands-on workshops and guided visits to collaborative projects, every activity is tailored to spark curiosity and inspire positive action. Visitors leave not just with useful knowledge about using resources responsibly, but with practical ideas they can take back and share to help care for the environment in their own communities.

How to Book Your School Visit

We are delighted to welcome your school! To make the process simple, all bookings are handled through our online system. You will complete a short safety induction so you can feel confident that everything is ready for your visit. Follow the steps below to ensure you are fully prepared for an enjoyable experience with your students.

Fill out the online form, for first time users you will need to create an account with your details and preferred visit date. This account will be linked to you rather than a school or facility.

Short video clips and questions explain our site rules and safety guidelines. This is only required for first time users or teachers who haven’t accessed our site in over 12 months.

Once you complete the safety induction, you’ll receive a certificate, valid for 12 months, which will cover any bookings you make during that period.

We’ll review your booking and either confirm your visit or request further details by email. You will be notified if there is a mistake on the form and prompted to resubmit with the correct information.

You’ll receive an email confirming the date and time of your visit.

About two weeks before your visit, we will contact you to confirm final details. It is essential that you inform us of any changes to your original booking, such as numbers of students or additional needs (for example) – if in doubt, please discuss individual circumstances with us so that we can make your visit safe and enjoyable for everyone!

Total time to complete steps 1–3: ~15 minutes
